Rehabilitation Centre in Gurugram: Alcohol & Drug De-Addiction Care Matched to the Person
Gurugram runs on deadlines. Late client calls, weekend parties off Golf Course Road and long drives on NH-48 can slowly turn a drink, a pill or a joint into the only off-switch. When that off-switch starts running the day, the next step is not just finding the nearest bed. It is finding the right kind of care.
Second New Life Pathway Private Limited provides addiction treatment support and works with collaborating rehab and nasha mukti centres across India. If you live or work in Gurugram, we help you understand the level of care needed, shortlist suitable centres in Gurugram, the wider NCR or another city, and prepare for the clinical assessment that decides admission.
We do not run our own facility in every city. The treating centre's name, address, services and fees are confirmed in writing before any travel or payment.
When the city's pace becomes a pattern
Signs that drinking or drug use has moved past "just unwinding"
Gurugram's working life has its own pressures: night shifts in Udyog Vihar, quarter-end targets in Cyber City, startup fundraising, and thousands of young professionals living far from their families in rented flats. None of this causes addiction on its own. But stress, money and easy access can hide a problem for a long time. Look for patterns, not one bad weekend. If several of these feel familiar, read our guide to the early signs of alcohol addiction and the stages of drug addiction.
At work
- Monday mornings that start with a "recovery" routine
- Missed stand-ups, blamed on traffic or Wi-Fi
- Needing a drink or pill before presentations or client calls
At home
- Hidden bottles, locked rooms, a phone always face down
- Arguments about "how much" rather than "whether"
- Children starting to plan around a parent's mood
In the body
- Shaking, sweating or anxiety that eases after using
- Sleep that only comes with alcohol, cannabis or tablets
- Needing more to feel the same effect
Money & safety
- UPI transfers you cannot explain, or borrowing from colleagues
- Driving after using, even on short trips
- Buying from people you would not normally trust
You are not unusual. India's first national survey on substance use, carried out by AIIMS' National Drug Dependence Treatment Centre for the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, estimated that around 16 crore Indians aged 10–75 use alcohol, and found that only a small fraction of people with a drinking problem receive any treatment (PIB summary of the report). Addiction can also be behavioural; our article on signs of a behavioural addiction covers gambling, gaming and similar patterns.
Haryana's new 2026 rules: what a legitimate de-addiction centre in Gurugram should be able to show you
On 9 October 2026, Haryana's Health Department notified the Mental Healthcare (State Mental Health Authority) Regulations, 2026 under the Mental Healthcare Act, 2017. The rules sort mental health establishments into six categories, including standalone de-addiction centres and psychosocial rehabilitation centres. They also set standards for registration, staffing, patient safety and treatment records. For families comparing a rehab centre in Gurgaon, this gives you a practical checklist. Tick each item as the centre answers it:
Red flags: walk away if you hear these
- "We'll pick him up tonight, no need for a doctor to see him first."
- "No visits or calls for three months, that's the rule for everyone."
- "Cash only, and we don't give a written bill."
- "We can't share the address until admission."
- "Registration? Don't worry about all that."
How we use this checklist
When we suggest a collaborating centre for a Gurugram enquiry, ask us for its registration details, exact address and treating doctor. If a centre cannot answer these questions clearly, it should not be on your shortlist, including any we suggest. Haryana police have acted against unauthorised centres in the past, for example in a raid in Dabwali. Asking these questions protects the person you love.Source: reporting on the notified regulations by Medical Dialogues (Oct 2026). This is a plain-language summary, not legal advice. Check the current text of the regulations with the Haryana State Mental Health Authority.
Match the intensity of care to the need, not to the brochure
Some people in Gurugram need a hospital bed for a few days. Others can recover well while still living at home and going to work. The right level depends on withdrawal risk, physical and mental health, past attempts and how safe and supportive home is. A clinician decides this after an assessment. Use the tabs to understand what each level means.
Who it may suit
People with lower withdrawal risk, a stable home and the motivation to attend regularly. It is often a first step, or a step-down after a residential stay.
What a week looks like
One or more sessions of individual counselling, sometimes with group therapy, plus a doctor's review if medication is involved.
Gurugram reality check
Evening and weekend slots matter if you work in Cyber City or Sohna Road. Ask whether video sessions are possible on days when travel is not.
Who it may suit
People who need more structure than weekly counselling but can safely sleep at home, or who are stepping down from residential care.
What a week looks like
Several hours a day, several days a week. This typically combines cognitive behavioural therapy, relapse-prevention skills and group work.
Gurugram reality check
A daily commute across the city adds strain. Before committing, ask for a schedule and test the drive at that hour.
Who it may suit
People whose home environment keeps pulling them back, who have tried outpatient care, or who need round-the-clock structure for a period.
What a week looks like
A daily routine of therapy, group sessions, physical activity and holistic therapies such as yoga, built into a personalised treatment plan.
Gurugram reality check
The residential centre may be in Gurugram, elsewhere in the NCR or in another city in our network. Confirm the exact address before deciding.
Who it may suit
People with heavy daily alcohol use, benzodiazepine dependence, past seizures or delirium, or serious medical conditions. Withdrawal for them can be dangerous.
What a week looks like
Monitored medical detoxification with medication, nursing and doctor oversight, followed by planned transfer to rehabilitation.
Gurugram reality check
Ask where detox actually happens: on-site or at a partner hospital. Ask how an emergency transfer would work. If mental illness is also present, ask about dual diagnosis care.
What is being used changes what safe treatment looks like
A sharab chhudane ka kendra and a centre that handles opioid withdrawal are not automatically the same thing. Tell the assessing team exactly what is used, how often and when it was last used. Then explore the pages below.
Alcohol
Office drinks, weekend binges or a daily quarter. Heavy daily drinkers need a medical check before stopping.
Alcohol addiction treatment → Smack · chittaHeroin & opioids
Overdose risk rises sharply after a break in use. Ask about medication-assisted options and naloxone.
Heroin addiction care → Prescription & streetOpioid painkillers
Tramadol, oxycodone and similar drugs. Dependence often begins with a genuine pain prescription.
Opioid addiction → Sleeping & anxiety pillsBenzodiazepines
Alprazolam, clonazepam, lorazepam. Never stop them suddenly. Tapering needs a doctor.
Benzodiazepine dependence → Ganja · charas · bhangCannabis
"It's only weed" is common, yet daily use can affect motivation, sleep and mood, especially in young people.
Cannabis use concerns → Party sceneCocaine
Often tied to nightlife and work pressure. Mixing it with alcohol adds heart and judgement risks.
Cocaine addiction → StimulantsMeth & amphetamines
Long sleepless runs, paranoia and crashes. Care includes mental health support during recovery.
Methamphetamine addiction → Medicine cabinetPrescription drugs
Painkillers, sedatives and ADHD medicines used beyond the prescription. Bring a full list to the assessment.
Prescription drug addiction → Club drugsKetamine
Repeated use can harm the bladder and memory. Honest history helps the team plan safely.
Ketamine addiction → Often overlookedGabapentin & pregabalin
Misused for their calming effect, sometimes alongside opioids. This combination raises breathing risks.
Gabapentin addiction →⚠Safety first: stopping alcohol or benzodiazepines suddenly after heavy use can cause seizures. If someone is having a seizure, is severely confused, cannot be woken, or is breathing very slowly, call 112 or go to the nearest hospital emergency department straight away. Do not wait for a rehab callback.
Getting treatment without putting your career on the line
Many callers from Gurugram say the same thing: "I can't just disappear from work." Fear of what HR or a manager will think keeps many professionals from seeking help until there is a crisis.
A planned, time-bound treatment period is usually easier to manage than an unplanned breakdown. Here is how people plan around it. Your company's policies and your treating doctor's advice come first.
Read more: handling peer pressure in recovery.
Plan the leave, not the excuse
- Check your leave policy, medical leave rules and any employee assistance programme (EAP) your company offers.
- A medical certificate from the treating doctor can usually state you need treatment without naming the condition. Ask what it will say.
- Hand over urgent work to one trusted person. You do not owe everyone the full story.
Let the laptop rest
- Ask the centre about phone and device rules before admission, so they don't come as a surprise.
- Keeping "just one call a day" for work often brings the old stress back into treatment. Talk it through with your counsellor.
- Use the time for real therapy work: triggers, sleep, and how you handle conflict and pressure.
Return in phases, with a plan for the offsite
- If possible, start with shorter days or a few work-from-home days, and keep follow-up appointments in your calendar like client meetings.
- Decide in advance what you will drink at team dinners and how you will leave early. Rehearse the line you will use.
- Follow your relapse prevention plan and see how to stay committed to sobriety.
Rehab in Gurugram, elsewhere in the NCR, or in another Indian city?
A large share of Gurugram's workforce moved here from other states. For some, getting treatment near the family home in Jaipur, Lucknow, Chandigarh or Dehradun makes more sense than staying in the city. Because we work with collaborating centres across India, we can look beyond one postcode. Here is how the three choices usually compare:
Inside Gurugram
Close to home and work
Works well when
- Family wants to join regular sessions
- Outpatient or day-programme care is enough
- Follow-up with the same team is a priority
Watch out for
- Old contacts and dealers being close by
- Pressure to "check in" with work
Elsewhere in the NCR
Delhi, Noida, Faridabad and nearby
Works well when
- A specific service, such as dual diagnosis or women-only care, is available there
- Some distance from local triggers helps
- Family can still visit at weekends
Watch out for
- Visiting times that clash with Gurugram traffic
- Handover back to a local doctor after discharge
Another city in our network
Near your hometown or a quieter setting
Works well when
- Parents or siblings live there and can take part
- A real break from the city is clinically advised
- The person plans to recover near family
Watch out for
- Travel arrangements, which must be planned and consented to
- Aftercare when you return to Gurugram
Think in visiting rhythms, not kilometres
A centre that looks 25 km away on a map can take very different amounts of time to reach depending on where you start. Before choosing, picture the weekly family visit from your part of the city:

From first call to first night: how the next 72 hours usually go
Families often picture admission as one dramatic day. In practice it is a short series of clear steps. Some happen within hours. Others depend on assessment results and bed availability at the receiving centre. Same-day admission is sometimes possible, but it should never skip the assessment.
What to keep ready
- Photo ID (Aadhaar or other)
- All current medicines in their strips
- Old prescriptions & discharge summaries
- Recent blood test reports, if any
- Comfortable clothes for 7–10 days
- One emergency family contact
- Health insurance details
- The centre's written estimate
- Hour 0
A private, unhurried conversation
You call or WhatsApp us. We ask what is being used, for how long, any health concerns and what you hope will happen. Then we explain the realistic options.
- Same day
Screening and a shortlist
Based on the screening, we suggest suitable collaborating centres and share their exact address, services and registration status. You choose which ones to speak to.
- Day 1–2
Clinical assessment by the receiving team
A doctor or clinician assesses the person in person or by video, then recommends a level of care. If medical detox is needed first, they will say so.
- Before travel
Consent, estimate and acceptance in writing
The person is told what the plan involves. You receive a written estimate, refund terms and the name of the doctor responsible for their care.
- Arrival
The first night
Intake checks, a medicine review and a settling-in conversation. Agree on a time for the family to receive the first update.
Rehab centre fees in Gurugram: the five things that change the price
Search results show prices ranging from very low to hotel-level. A single "starting from" figure tells you very little. What you actually pay for de-addiction treatment in Gurugram depends on five things. Ask every centre to explain each one in writing. For a broader explanation, read how much alcohol rehab costs.
1. Medical intensity
Supervised detox, nursing cover and doctor visits cost more than counselling-only care, and are essential for some people.
2. Length of stay
Ask what the recommended duration is based on, when it will be reviewed, and what an extension costs.
3. Room & setting
Shared or private room, food and facilities. Comfort matters, but it is not the same as clinical quality.
4. Specialist input
Psychiatrist reviews, psychologist sessions and dual diagnosis care may be included or charged separately.
5. The extras
Medicines, lab tests, transport, family sessions and hospital transfers. These often decide the final bill.
Ask for these three documents before paying any deposit
- An itemised estimate naming the treating centre, not just the referral contact.
- Refund and early-discharge terms: what happens if the person leaves in week one.
- A list of exclusions, so a medicine or test bill does not come as a surprise.
What about health insurance?
The Mental Healthcare Act, 2017 expects insurers to cover mental illness treatment on the same basis as physical illness. Substance use disorders are recognised mental health conditions. Coverage still depends on your policy, whether the centre is a recognised hospital, and the insurer's rules. Ask your insurer or TPA and the centre for written confirmation before admission.
If you are the worried one: words that open the door
Most calls we get from Gurugram come from someone else: a parent in Sector 56, a wife in Palam Vihar, a brother who has flown in from Bengaluru. The first conversation with the person you love shapes everything after it. These swaps come up again and again in family counselling:
Understand your limits
You did not cause it, you cannot control it and you cannot cure it alone. Our article on the three C's explains why this mindset protects you.
Never use force or tricks
Admission without consent is covered by specific legal provisions under the Mental Healthcare Act. A centre offering to "pick up" someone without assessment is a warning sign, not a solution.
Get support for yourself
Living with addiction is exhausting. See ways to help a loved one and helping someone with prescription drug addiction.
The first 90 days back in Gurugram
Discharge is a handover, not a finish line. The first three months are when old routines, old friends and old stress test the new habits hardest. A good aftercare plan breaks this period into stages and names who is responsible for each part.
Days 1–14
Land softly
- First follow-up appointment booked before you leave the centre
- Medicines, doses and the prescribing doctor written down
- Old contacts and delivery apps deleted or muted
- A daily check-in with one person you trust
Days 15–45
Rebuild the week
- Regular counselling or group sessions on fixed days
- Exercise and sleep routines that replace evening drinking
- An honest plan for work stress and long hours
- Family sessions to repair trust step by step
Days 46–90
Strengthen & review
- Review warning signs and triggers with your counsellor
- Agree what happens if there is a slip, so a lapse does not turn into a relapse
- Find longer-term peer support
- Celebrate milestones without alcohol
