Indians aged 10–75 were estimated to drink alcohol in the national survey led by NDDTC-AIIMS, making it the most common psychoactive substance in the country.

Whether you are searching for a nasha mukti kendra in Faridabad for a brother who drinks every night after his factory shift, or for yourself after months of relying on sleeping pills, the first step is the same: an honest description of what is happening and a clear plan for what should happen next.
Second New Life Pathway Private Limited provides rehabilitation services and works with collaborating rehab centres in Delhi NCR and other parts of India. For Faridabad families, we help you understand the level of care that fits, check the centre that would provide it and prepare for a clinical assessment.

Four facts every Faridabad family should keep in mind
These figures explain why careful choosing matters, and why asking for help early is normal rather than shameful.
people with alcohol dependence reported getting any help for it. Most families wait years; the gap is in reaching care, not in whether care works.

Six things people in Faridabad often say about addiction, and what actually helps
Tap or hover on a card to turn it over. Each belief delays treatment for many families.
Many people keep a job for years while dependence grows. Look at control, not attendance: drinking more than planned, morning shakes, hiding bottles, or failing to cut down. Read the early signs of alcohol addiction.
Sudden stopping after heavy drinking or long sedative use can cause fits and confusion. Withdrawal needs a medical assessment, not a locked door. See why alcohol withdrawal can be dangerous.
New responsibilities usually add stress rather than remove dependence, and another person's life gets tied to an untreated condition. Treatment first, big life decisions after stability.
Cannabis use disorder is recognised clinically, and heavy use in young people is linked to anxiety and, in some, psychotic symptoms. See is marijuana addiction real?
Sleeping pills, anxiety medicines and painkillers like tramadol can create dependence even when they started legitimately. Never stop them suddenly; ask a doctor for a supervised plan. Read signs of prescription drug addiction.
Addiction is a chronic, relapsing condition for many people. A slip is a signal to adjust the plan, not proof that treatment failed. Our relapse prevention work plans for this in advance.
The same addiction looks different in NIT, Ballabgarh and Greater Faridabad
Faridabad grew as an industrial township beside Mathura Road, then spread into trading markets, older sectors and high-rise blocks across the Agra canal. Daily routines shape when people use, who notices and which plan they can follow.

Night shifts and hard physical work make "a drink to sleep" or tablets for body pain feel normal. Slowly the quantity rises until the person needs it to function.
- Ask whether leave can be arranged for a short residential stay or detox, and what documents the employer needs.
- Plan follow-up sessions around the shift roster, not the other way round.
- Discuss pain management honestly if tramadol or other painkillers are involved.

Cash in hand, late closings and drinks with suppliers make heavy use easy to hide. The worry "who will run the shop?" delays admission for months.
- Agree a temporary handover inside the family before discussing dates; it removes the main excuse.
- Ask about confidential admission and how phone access works during the stay.
- Include the spouse in family counselling; money and trust usually need rebuilding together.
🎓The young adult commuting to DelhiGreater Faridabad, Sectors 75–89, Neharpar
College or a first job in Delhi or Gurugram, a long commute and easy access to cannabis, vapes or party drugs. Parents often notice missing money or changed sleep first.
- Start with a non-judgmental assessment; outpatient care may be enough at an early stage.
- Screen for anxiety or low mood alongside use; ask about dual diagnosis care.
- Read handling peer pressure in recovery together.
🏠The older parent on nightly tabletsEstablished sectors: 7, 9, 14–17, 21, 28–31
A sleeping pill started after a bereavement or surgery becomes two, then three. Falls, memory lapses and daytime drowsiness get blamed on age, so dependence goes unnoticed.
- Do not stop the tablets suddenly; benzodiazepine and sleeping-pill withdrawal can be risky.
- Bring every strip and prescription to the assessment.
- Ask for a gradual, medically supervised reduction plan; read alternatives to benzodiazepines to prepare questions.
Call it by the name you use at home. We will understand.
Families say "daru", "smack" or "neend ki goli" rather than a medical term. Each substance needs a different first step; the badge shows how carefully withdrawal must be handled.
Alcohol
Highdaru, desi, theka wali, "peg"
Heavy daily drinkers can develop tremors, hallucinations or seizures within a day or two of stopping. An alcohol rehabilitation programme in Faridabad or elsewhere should start with a doctor's withdrawal assessment.
Tell us: usual quantity, the time of the first drink of the day, and any past fits or liver problems.
Heroin & other opioids
Mediumsmack, chitta, brown sugar, afeem, doda post
Opioid withdrawal is intensely uncomfortable and drives fast relapse. The bigger danger is overdose if someone uses again after a break, because tolerance drops.
Tell us: whether it is smoked or injected, any overdose history, and earlier treatment with medicines.
Sleeping pills & sedatives
Highneend ki goli, alprazolam, clonazepam, "nerve tablet"
Long-term benzodiazepine use must be reduced gradually under medical care. Stopping overnight can trigger severe anxiety, confusion or seizures.
Tell us: the exact names and strength on each strip, daily count, and who prescribed them.
Painkillers like tramadol
Medium"dard ki goli", chemist tablets, cough syrups
Common among workers with physical jobs and chronic pain. Tramadol can cause seizures at higher doses, and stopping it needs a plan that also addresses the original pain.
Tell us: the reason it started, daily quantity, and whether syrups or other tablets are mixed in.
Cannabis
Lowerganja, charas, bhang, "maal", joints
Withdrawal is usually irritability, poor sleep and low appetite rather than a medical emergency. The main concern in young users is mood, motivation and occasionally psychosis.
Tell us: age when use began, frequency, and any suspicious thinking, voices or panic attacks.
Stimulants & party drugs
Mediumcoke, "ice", MD, pills at parties
The crash after stopping brings exhaustion, low mood and sometimes suicidal thoughts. Heart symptoms, agitation or paranoia need urgent medical attention.
Tell us: what is used, with what else (often alcohol), and any chest pain or aggression.

Answer four questions to see which level of care to ask about first
Not everyone needs a long stay, and not everyone can safely stop at home. Follow the line down; the first "yes" shows where to begin. A clinician makes the final call.

Ten checks to run before anyone you love is admitted
In February 2025, people were found held at two unlicensed centres in Faridabad villages, reportedly cut off from family. That is a reason to verify, not to avoid treatment.
Haryana has also tightened oversight. The Mental Healthcare (State Mental Health Authority) Regulations, 2026, notified in October 2026 under the Mental Healthcare Act, 2017, cover de-addiction centres and require standalone centres to record admitted patients on the state's de-addiction monitoring portal.

Think of recovery like the Violet Line: many stations, and you can change trains
Faridabad commuters know the stretch from Badarpur Border to Raja Nahar Singh in Ballabgarh. Treatment works similarly: you move station by station, and orange "interchange" stops are where the plan can switch level.

Living in Faridabad, family back home? Treatment can happen where support is strongest.
Much of Faridabad's workforce has roots in other states, and recovery sometimes goes better near parents or a spouse. Because Second New Life works with collaborating rehab centres in different parts of India, we can discuss options in Faridabad, elsewhere in NCR or near your hometown.
Staying near Faridabad works well when…
- Close family lives here and can attend sessions
- The person's job allows a short break and a return
- Follow-up with the same team needs to be easy
- Outpatient care after discharge is part of the plan
handover
A centre near your hometown may suit when…
- Parents or a spouse there are the main support
- Distance from old drinking or using circles helps
- The person plans to stay home for a while after discharge
- Language and food familiarity will ease the stay
Also comparing nearby cities? See our pages for Delhi, Gurugram, Noida and Ghaziabad, or all locations. Distance alone never decides quality; clinical fit and follow-up do.

Similar monthly quotes can hide very different care. Cost depends on the centre, assessed need, room type and duration, so instead of one price, here is what a fair estimate should show. Tap a line to see what to ask.

- Who assesses, and is it billed separately? Psychiatrist visits are sometimes charged per visit on top of the package.
- Is detox on site or at a hospital? Hospital detox is usually billed by the hospital. Learn what medical detox involves.
- Shared or private room? This is often the biggest cost lever. Ask what a private room actually adds clinically.
- How many individual sessions, and with whom? "Counselling included" means little without a number and a qualified name.
- Are medicines and tests at actual cost? Ask for a monthly cap or prior approval for anything above it.
- Who provides transport, and with whose consent? Admission and transport must follow legal and clinical requirements; avoid any service that offers to "pick up" an adult against their will.
- What happens if treatment ends early? Get the refund rule in writing. The Mental Healthcare Act asks insurers to cover mental illness on the same basis as physical illness, but always confirm what your own policy pays.

Choosing a centreIs there a suitable rehab centre in Faridabad, or will we have to travel?
It depends on the level of care needed. Some people are best served close to home in Faridabad or elsewhere in Delhi NCR; others benefit from a programme in another city or near their hometown. We discuss the options available through our services and collaborating centres, then confirm the exact address before you decide.
Choosing a centreIs a nasha mukti kendra different from a de-addiction centre in Faridabad?
People use both names for the same idea, so the name alone tells you nothing about medical care. Compare what each place actually provides: a named doctor, detox arrangements, qualified counsellors, family sessions and a discharge plan. Section 07 on this page gives you a ten-point check.
Choosing a centreHow can I check whether a de-addiction centre in Haryana is registered?
Ask to see the licence or registration certificate, note the issuing authority and number, and check that the name and address match. Haryana's 2026 regulations under the Mental Healthcare Act cover de-addiction centres, so a genuine centre should be comfortable answering these questions in writing.
TreatmentCan someone stop drinking at home without going to a rehab centre?
Some people with mild problems can, with outpatient support. For heavy daily drinkers, stopping suddenly can cause shaking, hallucinations or seizures, so a doctor should assess withdrawal risk first. Never attempt an unsupervised "lock-in" at home.
TreatmentHow long is a typical stay at a rehabilitation centre?
There is no fixed answer. Detox may take days, while residential rehabilitation often runs for several weeks, followed by months of outpatient follow-up. Ask the treating team why they recommend a particular duration and when it will be reviewed.
TreatmentDo you help with sleeping pill and painkiller dependence, not only alcohol and drugs?
Yes. Dependence on sedatives, tramadol and other prescription medicines is common and needs a gradual, medically supervised plan. Please do not stop these medicines suddenly while you wait for an assessment.
CostWhat do rehab centres in Faridabad charge?
Charges vary widely with the centre, the room type, medical needs and length of stay, so any single figure online would mislead you. Ask for an itemised written estimate for the specific centre proposed, including medicines, tests, therapy sessions and refund terms.
CostWill health insurance cover de-addiction treatment?
The Mental Healthcare Act, 2017 asks insurers to cover mental illness on the same basis as physical illness, and substance use disorders are mental health conditions. Actual cover depends on your policy and whether the centre is eligible, so check with your insurer and the centre's billing team before admission.
Family & privacyCan we admit a family member who refuses treatment?
An adult usually makes their own treatment decisions. The law allows admission without full consent only in limited situations assessed by qualified professionals. Avoid any service offering forced pick-up. Family counselling and a calm, planned conversation often change a "no" into "maybe".
Family & privacyWill the person's employer or neighbours find out?
Mental health records are confidential under Indian law. Ask the centre how information is stored, what is reported to authorities, and how leave letters or medical certificates are worded. You decide who in the family is told. Read our privacy policy.
You do not need every answer before you call.
Tell us where in Faridabad you live, who you are worried about and what scares you most right now. We will help you work out the next sensible step, whether that is an outpatient appointment, a medically supervised detox or a residential programme near Faridabad or anywhere in India.
